Bill breakdown
Estimate using NEPRA's uniform domestic base tariff. Your DISCO (LESCO, IESCO, MEPCO, K-Electric and others) may add other surcharges or withholding tax, and rates change during the year. Check the tariff printed on your own bill and edit the rates above to match.
How to Use the Electricity Bill Calculator
All rates can be edited. Click Edit per-unit rates and copy the rates printed on your own bill to get the closest estimate for your DISCO.

Protected vs Non-Protected Consumers
How Slab Billing Works
- Protected: each block is charged at its own rate. 150 units = 100 × Rs 10.54 + 50 × Rs 13.01 = Rs 1,704.50 of energy cost.
- Non-protected up to 200 units: the first 100 units at the first rate and the rest at the second rate.
- Non-protected 201 – 700 units: you get the benefit of one previous slab only. At 350 units, the first 300 units are charged at the 201 – 300 rate and the last 50 at the 301 – 400 rate.
- Above 700 units: all units are charged at the top rate. Many of these connections also have time-of-use meters with peak and off-peak rates.
Worked Example: 250 Units, Non-Protected
| Item | Calculation | Amount |
|---|---|---|
| First 200 units | 200 × Rs 28.91 | Rs 5,782 |
| Next 50 units | 50 × Rs 33.10 | Rs 1,655 |
| Energy cost | Rs 7,437 | |
| Electricity duty (1.5%) | 1.5% of Rs 7,437 | Rs 112 |
| GST (18%) | 18% of Rs 7,437 | Rs 1,339 |
| TV fee | Rs 35 | |
| Estimated total | Rs 8,923 |
Your real bill can be higher if your DISCO adds FPA, quarterly adjustments, fixed charges or withholding tax for non-filers.
Taxes and Charges on Your Bill
- FPA (fuel price adjustment): a per-unit charge or refund that changes monthly with fuel costs. Enter a negative number for a refund.
- Electricity duty: a provincial charge, usually a small percentage of the energy cost.
- GST: 18% sales tax on the bill.
- TV fee: a fixed monthly PTV licence fee.
- Fixed charges: some connections pay a fixed amount based on sanctioned load.
- Income tax: withholding tax can apply on larger bills, especially for people not on FBR's Active Taxpayers List.
How to Lower Your Bill
Frequently Asked Questions
How is the electricity bill calculated in Pakistan?
Your units are multiplied by NEPRA slab rates, then FPA, electricity duty, GST, the TV fee and any fixed charges are added. This calculator does those steps for you.
What is a protected consumer?
A domestic consumer who has used 200 units or less in each of the last six months. Protected consumers pay lower per-unit rates.
Why did my bill jump after 200 units?
Crossing 200 units removes protected status, so all units are charged at higher non-protected rates, and you stay non-protected for six months.
Does this work for LESCO, IESCO and K-Electric?
Yes. All DISCOs use the same NEPRA base tariff, but local charges differ. Edit the rates and charges to match your own bill for the best estimate.
What is FPA on my bill?
Fuel price adjustment is a monthly per-unit charge or refund that reflects changes in fuel costs for power generation.
Are the rates in this calculator always current?
Rates change during the year. The defaults are NEPRA's uniform domestic tariff, and every rate can be edited to match your latest bill.
